Data Protection

The BVI data protection declaration can be found here.

Privacy policy for the website

The German fund association BVI welcomes you to our website. We are pleased about your interest and would like to make your stay on our website as pleasant as possible. For us, this also includes responsible handling of your data, which complies in every respect with the legal requirements in Germany.

1. Scope of application

This data protection information applies to the following websites and the associated subdomains: www.bvi.de, www.bvi-amk.de, www.hoch-im-kurs.de, www.ombudsstelle-investmentfonds.de

2. Processing of data with and without personal reference

a. Surfing on our website

In principle, you can visit our websites without telling us who you are. We collect data about each server access (so-called server log files) concerning our offer.

The access data includes the name of the website accessed, file, date and time of access, amount of data transferred, notification of successful access, browser type and version, the user's operating system, referrer URL (the previously visited page), IP address and the requesting provider. The data is used exclusively for the administration and optimization of the internet offer and for statistical purposes. No usage profiles are created.

The IP address can be a personal date because under certain conditions it is possible to find out the identity of the owner of the internet access used by providing information from the respective internet provider. The IP address is only evaluated by us in the event of attacks on our internet infrastructure. In this case, we have a legitimate interest in the processing of the IP address within the meaning of Art. 6 para. 1 f) DS-GVO. It arises from the need to ward off the attack on the internet infrastructure, to determine the origin of the attack in order to be able to take criminal and civil action against the responsible person and to effectively prevent further attacks.

b. Contact and communication

On some pages you can enter personal data in the input fields for the purpose of correspondence with us. This data will only be processed for the purpose for which you have provided us with the data, e.g. to process your enquiries, order brochures or to contact you at your request. In this case, the processing of personal data is carried out with your consent and is therefore permitted pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 a) DS-GVO. We will delete your data in this regard if the purpose for which you have provided us with your data has been fulfilled or completed and we are not entitled or obliged to further store it for legal reasons.

3. Information applications of other providers

Our websites include third-party content such as videos on YouTube and Google Maps Maps. This always assumes that these third-party providers use the IP address of the user, since without the IP address no content can be sent to the user's browser. We strive to include only third-party content that uses IP addresses only to deliver the content. However, we have no control over whether third-party providers store IP addresses for statistical purposes, for example. The applications are hosted on the servers of the partners and operated by these partners. Please note that the use of such an application is subject to the data protection regulations of the respective partner, who is responsible for this processing within the meaning of Art. 4 No. 7 DS-GVO.

a. Use of cookies

Cookies are also used on our websites. Cookies are small text files that are stored on your computer or mobile device from the websites you visit. The use of cookies improves the user-friendliness of our websites. For example, we use so-called session cookies to recognize that you have already visited individual pages on our website. These session cookies are automatically deleted when you leave our site. In addition, we use web analysis cookies to statistically record the use of our website and to evaluate it for the purpose of optimising our services for you (see "Matomo" below). These cookies collect anonymous tracking data on how the BVI websites are used: for example, on the length of stay, page views and user movements via links. These cookies are automatically deleted after a defined period of time. Third party providers also generate cookies.

You have the option of setting your internet browser so that cookies are not stored. Some browsers already allow cookies in their default settings. If you do not wish to do so, you can change this setting in your browser. Please refer to the information provided by the manufacturer of your browser to find out how this is done. If you decide against cookies, it can happen that parts of our websites cannot be used.

b. Shariff social media buttons for more data protection

We are pleased whenever our users recommend and discuss content of our websites on Twitter, Facebook, WhatsApp, XING, LinkedIn and Google+. For this purpose, we use social media buttons, namely the buttons developed by the c't "Shariff" project.

C't Shariff ensures that social networks can only request data from users once they click on the appropriate button. Shariff replaces the usual share buttons of social networks and protects your surfing behavior from prying eyes. A single click on the button is enough to share information with others. You don't have to do anything else, the webmaster has already taken care of everything. Common social media buttons transfer your data every time you visit a webpage and provide social networks with precise information about your surfing behaviour (user tracking). You do not need to be logged in or a member of the network. A Shariff button, on the other hand, establishes direct contact between the social network and the visitor only when the latter actively clicks on the share button. Further information can be found at www.heise.de .

c. Matomo (formerly Piwik)

We use the open source software Matomo for the analysis and statistical evaluation of the use of the website. Cookies are used for this purpose (see "Cookies" above). The information generated by the web analysis cookie is transferred to our server and stored for usage analysis purposes, which serves to optimise our website. Your IP address will be anonymized immediately during this process so that you as a user remain anonymous for us. The information about your use of this website will not be disclosed to third parties. If you do not agree with the storage and evaluation of this data, you can object to its storage and use at any time by mouse click at the bottom of this page. In this case, a so-called opt-out cookie will be stored in your browser, which means that Matomo does not collect any session data.

Please note: When you delete your cookies, the opt-out-cookie will also be deleted and may have to be reactivated by you.

4. Your rights as a user of our websites

You have the right to information regarding the personal data stored about you. In addition, you have the right to correction of incorrect data, blocking and deletion. The assertion of these rights is free of charge for you. To do so, please contact our data protection officer: datenschutzbeauftragter@bvi.de or by post:

In general, we recommend that you consult this privacy statement regularly to check whether there have been any changes. You can recognize this, among other things, by the date of the last change, which is indicated at the end of this document.
